Description

Ureterostomy is a procedure to create urinary diversion so that the urine can flow from abdomen to a pouch attached outside the body via a stoma. Instead of flowing into the urinary bladder, the urine will go into the stoma. Urostomy can be performed either through Ileal Conduit or Ureterostomy. A part of small intestine is used to create a conduit in ileal conduit technique while in ureterostomy, the ureters are directly connected to the wall of the abdomen to create a stoma.
