Description

Blepharoplasty or an eye-lid surgery involves repairing droopy eyelids by correcting deformities, defects and disfigurations caused due to ageing. In the surgery, your doctor will remove excess fat, skin or muscle to aesthetically transform the eye region of your face. As sagging skin and drooping eyelids will reduce your peripheral or side-vision, the Blepharoplasty surgery therefore will also help you get rid of these vision issues and make your eyes to look younger and more observant.

Symptoms

The surgery may be recommended when a person has Baggy upper eyelidsExcess fat on the lower eyelidsBaggy upper eyelids which hinders your side visionSaggy lower eyelids that may cause white to show below the tinted portion of your eye Baggy upper eyelids Excess fat on the lower eyelids Baggy upper eyelids which hinders your side vision Saggy lower eyelids that may cause white to show below the tinted portion of your eye

Pre Procedure

Before scheduling the surgery, your eye surgeon will discuss – • Your Concerns: A frank discussion with the surgeon regarding your concerns and expectations from the surgery will help achieve the desired outcome. • Your Concerns: • Your Medical History: Your surgeon may ask you a few questions related to your past surgery or present situation, such as diabetes, thyroid problems, circulatory problems, glaucoma, dry eye and allergies. He/she will ask you about your medicines or daily supplements. • Your Medical History: Moreover, your doctor may conduct some tests to examine your physical periorbital region (eyebrow-to-cheek-to-nose) and to determine if you can safely undergo this Blepharoplasty surgery and if it is practically possible for him/her to modify or correct the aesthetic and functional aspects as suggested by you. Your eyes will be captured in camera from various angles to help plan the surgery and evaluating its long-term and immediate outcomes.

During Procedure

If the surgery is to be performed on both the upper and lower eyelids, then the surgeon usually starts from the upper lid where he/she will put an incision alongside the fold of your eyelid to take away excess of fat, skin or muscle and will then close the cut. Again, on the lower lid your surgeon will cut right below your eye lashes in the natural crease or inside the lower lid. He/she will then redistribute or remove the excess fat or drooping skin and will stitch the cut. If the surgeon notices a drooping eyelid close to the pupil, then he may do the surgery along with a procedure known as Ptosis to address the issue. Ptosis
